Build-to-Print CNC Machining Services

Wexmar provides build-to-print CNC machining services for OEMs, maintenance organizations, and government buyers who own the design and need a shop that will make it exactly as drawn. We machine turned, Swiss, and milled parts to your drawing, specifications, and purchase order requirements, and we document conformance with inspection reports and material certifications. Buyers looking for a build-to-print machine shop or build to print manufacturing near me can work directly with our Canastota, New York shop near Syracuse, with nationwide shipping.

What build-to-print machining is

In build-to-print work, the customer supplies a complete technical data package: drawings, specifications, material and finish callouts, and quality requirements. The supplier's job is to manufacture parts that conform to every requirement, without redesigning the part or substituting materials or processes. Engineering questions are raised to the customer, not decided by the shop. Build-to-print is the standard model for defense and government procurement, spare parts programs, and OEMs that design in-house and outsource machining.

When a buyer needs build-to-print manufacturing

  • OEMs with released drawings that need a reliable machining source
  • Government and defense contracts that specify drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements
  • Spare and replacement parts for industrial equipment with existing prints
  • Second-source qualification for parts currently made elsewhere
  • Programs with material, finish, or traceability requirements that must be followed exactly

How Wexmar handles a technical data package

Every package is reviewed by a human estimator before we quote. We check the drawing revision, material specification, finish and processing specifications, thread and tolerance callouts, inspection requirements, and any purchase order quality clauses. Conflicts or unclear requirements are raised as questions before we accept the order, not after the parts are made. Once released, the job router lists every operation, outside process, and inspection point in the order they occur. We do not deviate from the print without written approval from the customer.

Common drawing and specification requirements we work to

  • ASME Y14.5 GD&T callouts, verified on CMM
  • UN and metric thread specifications, including UNJ threads by review
  • Material specifications for steel, stainless, nickel alloys, aluminum, and titanium
  • Finish and processing specifications carried out by qualified outside processors
  • DFARS 252.225-7009 specialty metals sourcing when required

Wexmar equipment

Build-to-print parts run on ten CNC lathes (Mazak Nexus QT200 x2, Nexus 250, Nexus 100-II, 200 MS, Multiplex 6300Y, Nexus 450-II, Doosan Lynx 2100A x2, and Boss 552) with live tooling and Y-axis; four Maier MLK-32 Swiss machines with FMB bar feeders for parts to 32 mm; and six Mazak horizontal machining centers (FH4800 x2, PFH4800, Nexus 4000-II, Nexus 5000-II x2) with pallet changers for 3- and 4-axis work. We also run a centerless grinder, surface grinder, KASTO saws, and a tool room. Wexmar does not offer 5-axis milling, and we will say so when a package requires it. See the machine list.

Materials

We machine carbon and alloy steels, 300-series, 400-series, and PH stainless, Nitronic 50, Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, titanium, and engineered plastics, purchased to the specification on the drawing with mill certifications.

Questions before we cut metal

Drawing packages are rarely perfect. Old revisions reference superseded specifications, notes conflict with the title block, or a tolerance stack cannot be met as drawn. When we find an issue during review, we send a written question that cites the sheet, zone, and note so your engineer can answer quickly. The answer is recorded with the job, and nothing is machined on an assumption.

Quantity fit

Build-to-print orders at Wexmar range from single spare parts to production runs in the thousands, including multi-year blanket orders with scheduled releases.

Inspection deliverables

We provide CMM reports from our Brown & Sharpe Gage 2000 and Gage ONE, AS9102-format first article inspection, material certifications, outside processor certifications, and heat-lot traceability, all under an ISO 9001:2015-aligned quality system. Wexmar is registered in SAM.gov under CAGE 16AD7, invoices through WAWF/PIEE, and has a DD Form 2345 application on file. See government and defense machining.
