What contract machining is
Contract machining means an OEM outsources the manufacture of its machined parts to a supplier that runs them to the OEM's drawings and schedule. The OEM keeps ownership of the design and the customer relationship; the contract machine shop supplies capacity, process knowledge, and quality control. For many manufacturers, contract machining is less expensive than buying, staffing, and maintaining machines for parts that are not their core product, and it adds flexibility when demand rises or falls.

Wexmar equipment
Our floor includes Mazak Nexus QT200 (two), Nexus 250, Nexus 100-II, 200 MS, Multiplex 6300Y, and Nexus 450-II lathes, two Doosan Lynx 2100A lathes, and a Boss 552, all with live tooling and Y-axis; four Maier MLK-32 Swiss-type machines with FMB bar feeders for parts to 32 mm diameter; and six Mazak horizontal machining centers with pallet changers. Typical tolerances
Typical capability is ±0.001 inch on turned diameters, ±0.0005 inch on Swiss diameters, ±0.005 inch on general milled dimensions, and 0.001 to 0.005 inch on hole true position, with tighter values by review and ground diameters to about ±0.0002 inch. Standard surface finish is 63 Ra, with 32 Ra and finer ground finishes available.

We machine carbon and alloy steels, 300-series, 400-series, and PH stainless, Nitronic 50, Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, titanium, and engineered plastics.
Transferring work from another supplier
When a part moves to Wexmar from another source, we ask for the current drawing, any approved deviations, and recent inspection data if you have it. The first lot is run with a first article inspection so both sides have documented proof that the new source matches the approved part before production quantities ship.
