High-Volume CNC Production Machining

Wexmar provides high-volume CNC production machining for turned, Swiss, and milled parts that ship in thousands of pieces on scheduled releases. Our production capacity combines four bar-fed Swiss machines capable of lights-out running, ten CNC lathes with live tooling, six horizontal machining centers with pallet changers, and second-shift staffing. OEM buyers searching for a production machining services partner or a high volume machine shop near me in the Northeast can source directly from our Canastota, New York shop near Syracuse.

What high-volume production machining is

High-volume machining focuses on cost per piece, consistency, and on-time delivery across long runs. Setup is a small share of total cost, so the work shifts to cycle time, tool life, unattended running, and process control. Parts are made from proven programs on dedicated fixtures, inspected at set intervals, and delivered on a release schedule tied to the customer's production plan. At Wexmar, high-volume work usually means annual quantities in the thousands to tens of thousands of pieces per part number.

When a buyer needs production machining

  • OEM components for pumps, fluid power, bearings, and power transmission equipment
  • Electrical, connector, and fastener parts with steady annual demand
  • Instrumentation and medical hardware components on scheduled releases
  • Parts moving from a supplier that can no longer support volume or quality
  • Defense and government contracts with multi-year quantities

Wexmar production equipment

Swiss production

Four Maier MLK-32 Swiss-type machines with FMB bar feeders produce parts to 32 mm diameter. The Swiss department is lights-out capable on proven jobs, adding spindle hours outside staffed shifts. See lights-out machining.

Turning production

Ten CNC lathes, including Mazak Nexus QT200 (two), Nexus 250, Nexus 100-II, 200 MS, Multiplex 6300Y, and Nexus 450-II, Doosan Lynx 2100A (two), and a Boss 552, run production turned parts with live tooling and Y-axis to complete parts in fewer operations. Second-spindle machines finish both ends in one cycle.

Milling production

Six Mazak horizontal machining centers, two FH4800s, a PFH4800, a Nexus 4000-II, and two Nexus 5000-II machines, all with pallet changers, run tombstone fixtures that hold multiple parts per pallet. Loading happens while the spindle cuts. See our machine list.

Materials

Production parts are machined in free-machining and alloy steels, 300-series, 400-series, and PH stainless, Nitronic 50, Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, titanium, and engineered plastics. For high volumes, material choice has a large effect on cost; where a free-machining grade meets the application, we will point it out for your engineering review.

Process control in long runs

Long CNC production runs drift if nobody watches them. Tool wear, insert changes, material variation between heats, and temperature changes across a shift all move dimensions. We set tool life limits, record in-process measurements at defined intervals, and adjust offsets based on those measurements rather than waiting for a part to fail inspection. Program changes on released production parts go through review so the approved process stays approved.

Scheduling and supply

Blanket orders with scheduled releases let us plan material purchases, machine time, and outside processing ahead of each shipment. Heat treat, plating, anodizing, passivation, black oxide, and powder coat are coordinated through qualified outside processors that Wexmar manages, so parts arrive finished. We ship nationwide by LTL and parcel from Canastota, NY, with packaging matched to the part.

Quantity fit

This approach fits annual volumes from a few thousand to tens of thousands of pieces per part number. Swiss parts at the higher end of that range benefit most from lights-out running. Lower quantities are handled through our low-volume machining approach.

Inspection deliverables

Production lots are inspected at first piece, at defined intervals, and at lot completion, using Brown & Sharpe Gage 2000 and Gage ONE CMMs, a Mitsubishi optical comparator, and calibrated gages. Deliverables include CMM reports, AS9102-format first articles, PPAP documentation support, material certifications, and heat-lot traceability, under an ISO 9001:2015-aligned quality system.

Frequently asked questions

What volumes does Wexmar run in production?

Our production approach fits annual volumes from a few thousand to tens of thousands of pieces per part number, depending on part size and process.

Do you run lights-out production?

Yes. Our Swiss department is lights-out capable on proven jobs, and pallet-changer horizontals and second-shift capacity extend production hours.

Can you manage finishing on production parts?

Yes. Heat treat, plating, anodizing, passivation, black oxide, and powder coat are coordinated through qualified outside processors that Wexmar manages.

Do you support blanket orders?

Yes. Blanket orders with scheduled releases are common and let us plan material and capacity ahead of each shipment.
